Illinois Voting Deadlines

  • Early voting begins September 26, 2024; Find your early voting location.
  • Last day to register to vote on Election Day is October 8, 2024. However, you can register and vote on the same day after this date up until and including Election Day.
  • Last day to register to vote online is October 20, 2024
  • City of Rockford Early Voting (at RVC) takes place October 21-25 and October 28-November 1. View all dates on the calendar.
    • Not a City of Rockford resident? Additional early voting locations are available:
      • Roscoe, Rockton, South Beloit, & Winnebago County: County Admin. Building (404 Elm St.) or Harlem Alpine Shopping Ctr. (1965 Harlem Rd.)
      • Belvidere & Boone County: County Clerk (#103 1213 Logan Ave., Belvidere)
      • Freeport & Stephenson County: County Clerk (#500 50 W. Douglas St.)
      • Oregon & Ogle County: County Courthouse (105 S. 5th St.)
  • Last day to request a ballot by mail is October 31, 2024; Request your ballot.
  • Election Day, for in-person voting, is Tuesday, November 5, 2024; Find your polling place.

Missed the deadlines? You can register to vote in person on Election Day (November 5, 2024). Bring an ID and one piece of mail with your address. You must have lived at your address for 30 days to be eligible. 

Voter Eligibility

To register in Illinois, you must:

  • be a citizen of the United States;
  • be a resident of Illinois and of your election precinct at least 30 days before the next election;
  • be at least 18 years old on or before the next election;
  • not be serving a sentence of confinement in any penal institution or under house arrest as a result of conviction of any crime; 
  • not claim the right to vote anywhere else.

If you are currently 16 years old and meet all other eligibility requirements, you can pre-register to vote. Your election authority will hold your registration until your 18th birthday.
