Hispanic Heritage Month at RVC

For 55 years, Hispanic Heritage has been observed in the United States. Under the leadership of President Lyndon Johnson, it began as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968. Fast forward twenty years to 1988, when President Ronald Reagan expanded the observation from one week to a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15.


Illinois Small Business Development Center Returns to RVC

After nearly a decade, the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) returned to Rock Valley College this spring. This move was made possible with a $150,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

RVC Student Awarded 2023 Gustafson Prize for Mathematics

Rock Valley College's Mathematics Department is proud to announce Massimo Chiarelli as the recipient of the prestigious 2023 R. David Gustafson Prize. This esteemed award is given annually to a student who has demonstrated exceptional mathematical talent at RVC.


RVC Launches Common Reading Initiative

Rock Valley College is excited to launch its first common read program featuring the bestselling novel Educated by Tara Westover. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to take part in this shared experience. Individuals read at their own pace throughout the summer and attend an in-person celebration and discussion scheduled for 1-3 p.m. on August 17.
