RVC Professor Awarded Grant to Preserve Rockford Education Desegregation Stories
Dr. Mathew Oakes has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Grant for a two-year oral history, archival, and instructional project on the legal and community history of desegregation and education in Rockford. The $60,000 grant will fund his project, “Chronicles of Change: Archiving Stories of Desegregation in Rockford Public Schools, 1989-2002.”

At a special meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, the Rock Valley College Board of Trustees voted to accept applications to fill a vacancy on the Board. The vacated seat is due to resignation of Board Chair Jarid Funderburg.

RVC Aviation Maintenance Students Launch Their Career With AAR
Ten Rock Valley College Aviation Maintenance Technology students were recently named as AAR CORP. Fellows. The AAR EAGLE Fellowship Program, part of AAR’s Eagle Career Pathway Program, provides recipients tuition assistance and the opportunity to work at AAR’s Rockford MRO facility while completing their Airframe and Powerplant program at Rock Valley College.
Rock Valley College Foundation And Crusader Community Health Partner To Address Healthcare Shortage Scholarship
ROCKFORD, IL – According to the U.S. News & World Report, “By 2025, the U.S. is estimated to have a shortage of approximately 446,000 home health aides, 95,000 nursing assistants, 98,700 medical and lab technologists and technicians, and more than 29,000 nurse practitioners, according to a 2021 report conducted by industry market analytic firm Mercer.”
