campus-related issues, call (815) 921-4357 or (815) 921-HELP. For off-campus situations,
call Rockford Police at (815) 987-5800.
Rock Valley College Police Department (RVCPD) officers patrol RVC properties seven days a week, even when the College is closed during winter break. Our officers attend the same academy training, possess the same police authority, and are held to the same standards as police officers in cities and sheriffs in counties, including the power to make arrests on view or on warrants.
Reporting a Crime, Threat, or Safety Concern
Report Behavior Online
You may report disturbing or disruptive behavior using an online form. This form is used to refer various student concerns/or incidents related to student contact, behavior intervention, and academic misconduct.
File a Citizen Complaint
Use the Citizen Complaint Form for complaints related to RVC Police Department performance. It is our policy to promptly investigate allegations of wrongdoing by department members and to take appropriate action.
Sign Up for RVC Alerts
In the event of a campus emergency or weather-related changes to classes and college operations, alerts are sent to registered users of the alert system. You can choose to be notified by email, text, and/or phone call.

Welcome to Rock Valley College, where the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is our first priority.
The mission of the Rock Valley College Police Department is to provide law enforcement, crime prevention, investigation, security, parking and traffic control services to the Rock Valley College community. Our officers are dedicated to contributing to a safe learning environment by working closely with all college stakeholders; local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies; and the community at large in a collaborative effort to prevent crime and ensure the safety of every person on campus.
Crime prevention and personal safety is everyone's business. Join us by taking an active role in personal safety and protection of the college community.

About the RVCPD
The Rock Valley College Police Department (RVCPD) was originally formed as the Department of Public Safety and Assistance on November 17, 1969. RVCPD officers attend the same academy training, possess the same police authority, and are held to the same standards as "police officers in cities and sheriffs in counties, including the power to make arrests on view or on warrants" as stated in 110 ILCS 805/3-42.1.
RVCPD officers attend continual in-service training on various law enforcement related topics to remain current on tactics, laws, court decisions, emergency medical response, and best practices. The RVCPD also employs civilian staff including an Emergency & Risk Management Coordinator and an Administrative Assistant III.

We proudly contribute to a safe learning environment and support the mission of Rock Valley College through diligent patrol, outreach, awareness programs, and community partnerships.
Vision Statement: It is our vision to maintain and enhance the confidence and trust of those we serve, while continually expanding and strengthening our partnerships with the students, faculty, and staff of Rock Valley College and the employees of this department, in identifying problems, developing solutions, and establishing realistic priorities and policies.

Crime/Media Logs
Our Rock Valley College Police Department Crime/Media Logs are kept updated and available at several campus locations. You can view the Crime/Media Logs at the Police Department on main campus in the Support Services Building. In addition, our Crime/Media Logs are available for viewing at our Bell School Road Center, RVC Downtown, North Main Office, Stenstrom Center for Career Education, Aviation Career Education Center, and our Advanced Technology Center.
