Rock Valley College Traffic Safety Program Recognized with National Awards
Rock Valley College’s Traffic Safety Program has been honored by the National Safety Council (NSC) for its outstanding commitment to driver education and roadway safety.

This fall, RVC celebrated years of service and awards of excellence for seventy employees and Dr. Howard Spearman's fifth anniversary as Rock Valley College's eighth president. The recognition event was held on September 2 at the college’s annual Professional Development Day.
RVC Alumnus Named 2025 Citizen of the Year
At the annual Greater Rockford Chamber dinner on August 14, Rock Valley College Distinguished Alumnus Jim Pirages was honored with the 2025 Citizen of the Year Award, a recognition reserved for those whose “legacy of service and lifetime of impact” have left an indelible mark on the Rockford Region.
Academy Award-Nominated Filmmaker Visits RVC
Rock Valley College alumnus and Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Bing Liu returned to campus on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, as the keynote speaker for RVC’s Professional Development Day.
Finding Purpose Through Criminal Justice
For Brent Murphy, choosing Rock Valley College was an easy decision. A Rockford native, Brent wanted to stay close to home while pursuing his education and RVC offered just that. "It allowed me to stay close to home as well as work at the same time. So, it was just a good situation for me," he said.
