RVC Professor Awarded Grant to Preserve Rockford Education Desegregation Stories

Dr. Mathew Oakes has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Grant for a two-year oral history, archival, and instructional project on the legal and community history of desegregation and education in Rockford. The $60,000 grant will fund his project, “Chronicles of Change: Archiving Stories of Desegregation in Rockford Public Schools, 1989-2002.”

RVC Athletics Make National Tournament History

All four winter sports teams have advanced to NJCAA National Tournaments for the first time in Rock Valley College history. Men’s Bowling, Women’s Bowling, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Basketball will all compete in upcoming tournaments for National Champion titles.

Student Has Running Start To Blend Love Of Tech And Art

Lucy Njaramba will be graduating with both her high school diploma from Harlem High School and her Associate’s degree from Rock Valley College this spring. This accomplishment is possible because they are a second-year Running Start student, which means they get to earn high school and college credit while taking classes at RVC.


RVC Women's Basketball D3 Region IV Champions

For the ninth time in ten seasons, the Rock Valley College Women's Basketball has captured the NJCAA DIII Region IV Championship.
