RVC Professor Awarded Grant to Preserve Rockford Education Desegregation Stories

Dr. Mathew Oakes has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Grant for a two-year oral history, archival, and instructional project on the legal and community history of desegregation and education in Rockford. The $60,000 grant will fund his project, “Chronicles of Change: Archiving Stories of Desegregation in Rockford Public Schools, 1989-2002.”

Take a stand against racism with RVC Promoting an Inclusive Community (PAIC) and YWCA on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at noon in the Student Center Atrium. Students, employees, and community members are invited to a panel discussion on Critical Race Theory featuring RVC staff, faculty, and community leaders. The panel will address systemic racism, Critical Race Theory, and who’s learning Critical Race Theory.


Phi Theta Kappa Honored At International Convention

Rock Valley College's Phi Theta Kappa chapter won a Distinguished College Project Award and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Chapters in the world at Catalyst 2022, the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention, which was held outside Denver, Colorado from April 7-9.
