Rock Valley College Celebrates 23rd Annual Dental Hygiene Pinning Ceremony
On Wednesday, May 14, Rock Valley College proudly celebrated the 23rd annual Dental Hygiene Pinning Ceremony, honoring the accomplishments of the Dental Hygiene Class 2025.

Dental Hygiene students were honored for their accomplishments on Wednesday, May 14.
Dr. Marie Navickis, Chair of the Dental Hygiene program, welcomed students, families, and guests to the ceremony. "Today, we celebrate a remarkable group of individuals. This journey hasn't been easy, making today even more meaningful." Dr. Navickis also thanked the dedicated faculty and staff whose tireless efforts help prepare students for their two rigorous licensure exams and careers ahead.
RVC President Dr. Howard Spearman addressed the graduating students and their families, emphasizing the effort required to achieve their degrees. "We've been in those seats, maybe not exactly the same ones, but going through a program, that academic journey, going over those obstacles, those hills, and coming out on the other side where you can say you completed your degree." He reflected on his journey at RVC and the significance of the college's brand symbols, noting the concentric circles representing leadership and influence. Dr. Spearman encouraged the graduates to inspire others as they have been inspired at RVC. "Success is contagious, and what I mean by that is somebody inspired you to move forward, but your greatest testimony is the life you live."
Dental Hygiene student Alisha Patel shared reflections on the class's journey which was filled with long days of clinical and studying. She acknowledged the support from instructors, family, and friends. Alisha expressed gratitude for the camaraderie that transformed classmates into a close-knit family. "We came in as strangers and are leaving as a team of confident clinicians," she said.
The Dental Hygiene Pinning Ceremony included an awards presentation recognizing students in the program.
