Rock Valley College Seeks to Fill Vacancy

The Rock Valley College Board of Trustees is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Board. The vacated seat is due to the resignation of Dr. Jenna Goldsmith.

It is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees to appoint a replacement within sixty days of August 10, 2026.

The appointed trustee will serve on the Board of Trustees to April 2027, when a successor will be elected at the April 6, 2027 Consolidated Election for community college trustees.

Applicants must be a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or over, and a resident of Rock Valley College District #511 for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment. District #511 includes all of Winnebago and Boone Counties and portions of Ogle, DeKalb, McHenry, and Stephenson Counties.

RVC Trustees are a part of an eight-member board made up of seven elected trustees and one student trustee. Trustees serve without compensation, but are reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in connection with their service to the college.

Anyone interested in serving is asked to submit a resume and brief statement of interest stating qualifications for the position, and answer the following questions:

  1. What experiences have prepared you to serve on the Rock Valley College Board of Trustees?
  2. Why are you interested in this position?
  3. Why is Rock Valley College an important community resource?
  4. Would you run for a full six-year term beginning in April 2027?

Applications must be received no later than 12:00 noon on Monday, August 24, 2026. Further dates and times to be determined.
