RVC To Host Science Olympiad On March 18

Rock Valley College will host a Science Olympiad Regional Competition for over 300 middle and high school students on Saturday, March 18, 2023. The event will take place from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on the RVC main campus (3301 N. Mulford Rd.), with an awards ceremony at 4:00 pm. Students will compete in events such as; Experimental Design, Environmental Chemistry, Forensics, Wifi Lab, Code Busters, and many more.

For the past 39 years, the Science Olympiad has revolutionized science education. What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is now one of the premier science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to 6,000 teams in 50 states.

Science Olympiad's ever-changing line-up of events in all STEM disciplines exposes students to practicing scientists and career choices and energizes classroom teachers with a dynamic content experience.

The top students in each event will receive medals, while the top teams will advance to the state tournament at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Then the top two teams from Illinois will advance to the national competition held on May 20 at Wichita State University in Kansas.
