RVC And YWCA To Host Stand Against Racism

Take a stand against racism with RVC Promoting an Inclusive Community (PAIC) and YWCA on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at noon in the Student Center Atrium. Students, employees, and community members are invited to a panel discussion on Critical Race Theory featuring RVC staff, faculty, and community leaders. The panel will address systemic racism, Critical Race Theory, and who’s learning Critical Race Theory.

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Tiffany Brunson, Rockford Public Schools Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer
  • Dr. Ken Coleman, RVC Dean of Advising and Retention
  • Suzanne Miller, RVC Associate Professor of Sociology and Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Academic Chair
  • Dr. Matthew Worley, Rockford Park District Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

After the panel discussion, attendees will be invited to take a pledge against racism.

Stand Against Racism takes place annually in April and is a signature campaign of YWCA USA to raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism in our communities and to build community among those who work for racial justice. RVC PAIC partners with YWCA each year to host a Stand Against Racism event for the RVC and Rockford community.
