Rock Valley College, in collaboration with the Workforce Equity Initiative (WEI), is pleased to announce the upcoming Skilled Trades Career Fair.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 14, from 2 - 6 pm on RVC Main Campus in the Stenstrom Student Center Atrium. All students, employees, and community are invited to attend.

The Skilled Trades Career Fair aims to provide valuable networking opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing careers in various industries. Over 20 employers from diverse sectors, including manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare, are expected to participate in the event. 

For job-seekers, this career fair is a chance to break through the noise of online job hunting and meet employers face-to-face,” said Alex Luft, Director of Career Services and Job Placement at RVC. “But there’s also plenty of value for students who are not yet on the job market. They get to see what these industries have to offer, now and in the future.

Among the participating employers are UW Health in Northern Illinois, Westside Children's Therapy, Crusader Community Health, Heritage Woods and White Oaks of Huntley, Healthcare Plus, Martin Automatic, Auto Meter Products, CMM Calibration Services, PCI Pharma Services, Ingersoll Cutting Tools, Bourn and Koch, Youngberg Industries, UPS, WREX TV, Furst Staffing, Express Employment Professionals, and Dickey Staffing Solutions.

The WEI program, a statewide grant initiative, focuses on expanding training opportunities for minority students in at-risk communities. By providing short-term educational opportunities in high-demand sectors, such as manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare, WEI aims to remove barriers to student success. These barriers may include free tuition, childcare, transportation, and educational supplies.
