RVC Police Earn Lexipol Gold
The path to certification, regardless of your field, can often be a daunting task. Nearly three years ago, the Rock Valley College Police Department embarked on the path to becoming certified for their work in policy and procedures. While this might seem mundane, this is critical for today’s policing agencies. RVC Police have now implemented nationally recognized policies for law enforcement. Meaning, RVCPD are handling each situation in the field using the most recent and best industry standards in the law enforcement community.
Recently, the Rock Valley College Police Department was recognized by the Lexipol Connect program for achieving Gold level for consistently and effectively disseminating policies to officers, issuing timely policy updates as laws change, and ensuring officers are trained on policies. Lexipol is the nation’s leading provider of policy, training, and wellness support for first responders and public servants; the Connect program tracks the Rock Valley College Police Department’s performance.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chief Yehl, and his team, for all their hard work in this process,” said former RVC Police Chief and current RVC Vice President of Operations Rick Jenks. “Each year, our police personnel respond to a variety of incidents and calls. These comprehensive and up-to-date policies and procedures help our officers maintain a consistent and professional response.”
RVCPD Chief Thomas Yehl added, “Policy – and regular training on policy – is crucial to the success of the department. Excellence in policy and policy training enhances community safety by ensuring consistent, effective responses based on national best practices. We are proud to be recognized by Lexipol Connect for continuously improving professionalism and safety.”
So, what’s next for RVCPD? After this recognition, they have their sights set on additional certifications and recognitions; including receiving Illinois certification from the Illinois Chiefs of Police accreditation program (ILEAP) and finally national accreditation through the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).
