RVC Brings Home the Gold
Living up to the motto, Rock Valley College Home of Champions, the RVC Communications and Marketing recently won the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 3 Gold Medallion Award for its yearlong 60th anniversary campaign.

NCMPR represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges across the United States and Canada. District 3 includes colleges in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and the Canadian province of Ontario.
The NCMPR Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at colleges in each of NCMPR's seven districts. The regional competition is exclusive to marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges. They are awarded in 47 categories, ranging from print to digital design, photo and video production, and all categories in between. There were over 500 entries in this year’s awards.
“The 60th Anniversary Campaign was a massive coordinated effort between so many areas of the college: Communications and Marketing, the RVC Foundation, Enrollment Services, the President’s Office, Facilities, and more. This recognition is a fine testament to the work we accomplish together at RVC,” said Jennifer Thompson, Executive Director of College Communications at RVC.
The campaign consisted of:
- A special anniversary logo;
- A 60th Anniversary tv-spot;
- Mulford Road banners highlighting RVC’s past and present;
- A community-wide birthday party celebration event that featured activities in almost every building on the main campus;
- RVC Foundation luncheon and Eras Trivia;
- CEO Challenge organized by the RVC Foundation;
- A social media campaign that highlighted 60 RVC employees who are also RVC graduates;
- Past presidents were recognized at the commencement ceremony culminating anniversary activities;
- A special edition anniversary shirt;
- A special edition alumni shirt; and
- Lots of media coverage throughout the year.
Congratulations to all the RVC departments that played a role in the 60th Anniversary Campaign. While this recognition is on a regional scale, the team advances to the national level to compete in this year’s NCMPR Paragon Awards. Winners will be announced later this spring.
