Leader In Massage Therapy Brings Training To RVC

RVC's Massage Therapy Training Program hosted world-renowned bodywork educator Erik Dalton's Myoskeletal Alignment Classes on Saturday, Oct. 22, and Sunday, Oct. 23, in the main campus Student Center Atrium. Massage Therapists from around the country attended the two-day event.

Erik Dalton's Myoskeletal Alignment classes have played a big part in the growth of the Massage Therapy profession all over the world. Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT) is a form of manual therapy that uses scientific evidence about the body and brain to inform the practitioner's approach to musculoskeletal problems.

"Bringing this class to Rockford will not only bring Licensed Massage Therapists together as a community but will help therapists gain confidence to take their profession to a whole new level," said Jamie Fanara, Owner, Massage Training Program Director at RVC.

The classes focused on Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques Prone, Supine, Side-lying (16CE). They were taught by Erik Dalton Instructor Jane Detert and focused on the following areas:

  • Head and neck pain
  • Dowager's humps and forward head and neck pain
  • Sports injuries and tendinopathies
  • Rib fixations and breathing disorders
  • Foot and ankle injuries
  • Low back, protective muscle spasm, sacroiliac & piriformis sciatica

The goal is to enhance skills, improve results, and build practices to a level of excellence that goes beyond the standard expectation of what can be achieved through traditional bodywork training.

"When the world took a change of lifestyle for an increase in work from home, this led to a change in postural alignment issues, which increased due to a higher sedentary life," said Massage Therapist Pauline Merquez. "The bulk of our clients are in continuous pain. It was when I learned Eric Dalton's Myoskeletal alignment techniques that they began to feel a deeper, more lasting relief."
