Cybersecurity at RVC
Rock Valley College was designated as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) in 2019 by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The purpose of CAE-CD is to encourage two-year colleges to grow and strengthen their cybersecurity programs. The CAE-CD designation indicates that Rock Valley College is helping reduce threats to our national infrastructure by promoting higher education in cyber defense and providing the nation with a pipeline of qualified cybersecurity professionals.

Cybersecurity Competitions
RVC students may join our National Cyber League (NCL) team to attend cybersecurity competitions. For more information, or to join the team, contact Josh Glovinsky.

Stephanie E. Wascher is a respected academic professional specializing in Computer Information Systems at Rock Valley College since 2011. She has demonstrated proficiency in Cisco equipment, Windows Server operating systems, VMware vSphere, and cybersecurity. Stephanie's expertise in technology and education has been crucial in modernizing and safeguarding labs, delivering outstanding classroom and laboratory teaching, and acting as a key liaison for the RVC's Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense designation. She has been working as a Computers, Networking, & Coding Instructor at Belvidere District 100 since 2018, where she created a detailed curriculum and provided engaging learning opportunities for high school students, in addition to her position at Rock Valley College. Stephanie is working towards a Doctorate in Information Technology specializing in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity from Capella University. She also has a strong educational foundation from the University of Illinois at Springfield and Northern Illinois University. She demonstrates a strong passion to education, cybersecurity, and technology integration through her impactful teaching techniques, consistent involvement in industry advancements, and unwavering focus on student achievement and advancement in the information technology sector.
