RVC Professor Awarded Grant to Preserve Rockford Education Desegregation Stories
Dr. Mathew Oakes has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Grant for a two-year oral history, archival, and instructional project on the legal and community history of desegregation and education in Rockford. The $60,000 grant will fund his project, “Chronicles of Change: Archiving Stories of Desegregation in Rockford Public Schools, 1989-2002.”
A Legacy of Service and Heart for Students
A longstanding tradition at Rock Valley College is to award the title Faculty of the Year annually. Nominations are accepted from students and faculty input before the faculty committee selects the recipient. RVC proudly announces Theresa Paulette Gilbert as the 2024 Faculty of the Year for her excellence in and out of the classroom.
Illinois Small Business Development Center Returns to RVC
After nearly a decade, the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) returned to Rock Valley College this spring. This move was made possible with a $150,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
2023 Eagle Awards of Excellence
The 2023 Eagle Awards of Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion were held on Friday, April 28, in the Student Center Atrium. The Eagle Awards of Excellence recognizes excellence in the following categories: Student, Faculty, Staff, Community Partner, and Distinguished Service.
