Rock Valley College Disability Support Services is excited to announce that our Raising Aspirations through an Inclusive Student Experience (RAISE) program has been approved by the U.S. Department of Education to become a Comprehensive Transition & Postsecondary (CTP) program.

CTP programs are designed specifically for intellectually disabled students to enable them to earn a legitimate college credential and participate in an internship in their chosen career area. RAISE is an inclusive and supportive post-secondary program at RVC for young adults who have intellectual disabilities and a desire to participate in a comprehensive college experience. As part of the CTP process, RAISE has been redeveloped to afford students opportunities to earn stackable credentials and to take coursework that aligns with vocational pathways. RAISE is one of only seven CTP programs in Illinois.

“Inclusion is an important part of who we are at RVC. Our RAISE students have been valued members of our campus community since the program started in 2010 and we are thrilled that they now get to be a part of a CTP program,” said Dean of Student Success David Schneider. “It’s important to note that this now allows RAISE students to apply for financial aid, making the program accessible to even more students in our community.”
