2012 Stateline FastPitch Competition: Phase I of III Complete!
With the presenter’s ideas or company names such as Munify Mobile, Socks-that-Rock, Telepsychiatry, Ink Again, The Super Saver App, Flip-It, The RAT, miPact, Prescient Audio, Naturally U, NZ3, MySecureDelivery and EntreFunding one might envision that the 2012 FastPitch Competition was anything short of exciting! For those that presented and attended it proved to be exhilarating! Forty eight presenters from Illinois and Wisconsin, including eight students who represented six colleges: RVC, NIU, UWW, Liberty University, Cornell and the London School of Finance made up the cast of Rockford’s FastPitch Competition.
In addition to the presenters, judges, volunteers and speaker, this Competition would be impossible to execute without the generous contributions from our fabulous sponsors! Three of our unparalleled sponsors who have supported us since the Competition’s inception in 2006 with time, talent, funds not to mention a phenomenal location are the StateLine Angels, NIU Rockford and Seward Screw Products. Alpine Bank, City of Rockford, EIGERlab, Growth Dimensions, IL Technology Association, IL Small Business Development Center at RVC, Joseph Behr & Sons, Kaney Group, Riverside Community Bank, Rock Valley College, Rockford Area Economic Development Council, Rockford Area Realtors, Rockford Chamber of Commerce, Rockford Local Development Corporation, Savant Capital Management, Sikich, Stillman Bank, Superior Joining Technologies, Universal Manufacturing Group, Winnebago County & Wipfli Accounting make-up the entire list of our generous sponsors.
We’re proud to share that the first through third place winners,MySecureDelivery (IP & personal collateral security product), The RAT (Recess Access Tool for emergency extrications) and miPact (centralized connection to loan out & borrow goods ) all are in the start-up phase and well on their way to potentially creating additional wealth and jobs in our community and the State of Illinois. Please visit their websites to learn more regarding these innovative entrepreneurs! Our winner in the student division, Ink Again (marker centrifuge)is in the beta test phase; we estimate you’ll see their product on the market sometime in 2013.
As anyone who has either participated or attended the Competition understands, it takes a synchronized team of judges and volunteers to execute such a huge undertaking. We appreciate everyone’s time and contributions! It was an extremely difficult competition to judge this year…the scores were crazy-close! A special thank you to our judges…we understand your job was even more challenging this year. In addition, the keynote address was provided by one of the founders of Savant Capital Management, Tom Muldowney who delivered not only clever business poetry, but some valuable business insights.
Phase II and III of the Competitions are slated for Wednesday, August 8, 5:30 PM at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, WI (Rock | Walworth Counties) and Wednesday, August 29, 5:30 PM at Gateway Technical College’s iMET in Sturtevant, WI. Presenters from the Stateline FastPitch Competition will prove to be worthy opponents now that they have participated once!
