At Rock Valley College, you're not just a number. Our highly respected faculty have master's degrees, doctorates and real-world experience. You won't be competing for attention in a huge lecture hall. Our average class size is 21, so you'll get a chance to interact, challenge and be challenged by your instructors.
The Estelle M. Black Library at Rock Valley College features nearly 75,000 volumes and more than 650 periodicals, and access to the interlibrary loan system. It also features spaces for individual and group study, and if you get thirsty, there's a coffee shop in the lobby!
RVC competes in NJCAA Division III in men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, golf, baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's soccer. Not to brag, but we're pretty good at it. Our teams have won 11 national championships and we have had more than 130 All-Americans.
Rock Valley College is announcing its annual Music Scholarship Auditions for any student who will participate in one or more of the ensembles offered through the Rock Valley College Music Department during the 2014-2015 school year. The Rock Valley College Foundation will award over $30,000 in the upcoming school year to both vocal and instrumental students; awards will be available to both music majors and non-majors who participate in our ensembles.
Eligible ensembles include our jazz bands, orchestra, concert band, concert choir, chamber singers, and women's choir. These awards are also offered to pianists interested in piano accompanying.
The auditions will be held on Wednesday afternoon, May 14, 2014 in the Performing Arts Room on the Rock Valley College campus.
Students must fill out TWO applications by May 7, 2014:
1) the Music Audition application (found at the bottom of this page)
Applicants will then be contacted with an assigned audition time.
Students earn one semester credit hour in each of our ensembles. Scholarship recipients must be registered and satisfactorily participate in at least one ensemble or its equivalent to maintain these renewable scholarships. These scholarships are renewable each year.
