(1.5 Credits) This in-depth, eight-part program focuses on the skills needed to promote self awareness, become a better decision maker, and define the path to your success. This course is geared toward self improvement for better understanding of self and those you interact with. Whether you’re currently in leadership, aspiring to leadership, or just looking to make yourself a better employee or person this course is for you.
KNOW YOUR SELF-YOU–the most important component! Learn your strengths and weaknesses, who you are and what you’re seen as. Understand how to separate your emotions from your behaviors and get a 360 Assessment so you’ll know where you stand as you decide where you’re going.
GOAL SETTING AND ACTION PLANS – This class is not just about setting goals and writing action plans. It’s about understanding and overcoming the obstacles that too often derail their successful implementation.
COMMUNICATION – Why are we the way we are? Why do we resist change? We have three brains? Find the answers to the one issue you must deal with on a constant basis-change. Listening is an attitude. More importantly, it’s a skill that can be improved through proper practice. Think you listen effectively? Come find out what you are missing.
CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND ACCOUNTABILITY – You must first understand conflict to effectively deal with it. Is it good or bad? Can you end it? Should you? Come explore these and many other questions as we take you through scenarios of real life conflict.
TEAM BUILDING–This lively and interactive session teaches you how to assemble teams that push for excellence. Develop your current and future stars, deal with the squeaky wheels and learn what stops teams from becoming great. This session includes a workshop on turning vision into reality. MOTIVATION – When the need for motivation arises, you must understand accountability. How do the two work together? Can you teach self-motivation? Does accountability mean punishment?

Expanding Your Platform Through Public Speaking
Public speaking is central in building a strong platform! It’s a great way to raise your visibility, promote your products and develop credibility with your audience. Whether you are designing your first presentation or are a seasoned professional, this class offers a practical and effective process for preparing and delivering powerful speeches. During our time together we will examine some of the best talks from TED.com as well consider some new communication principles from Resonate by Nancy Duarte. Course topics will include selecting a theme, developing your focus, using illustrations for maximum impact, involving the audience and sharpening your delivery. We will also discuss how to re-purpose your content to create supplemental products, services and training programs.
