Earn your Food Service CertificationREQUIRED ATTENDANCE: Mandatory attendance is required for the full 15 hours. You must arrive promptly by the start time. No exceptions, late-comers will not be admitted to class. RETAKE: If you are retaking the exam, you must notify the Continuing Education Office at (815)-921-3900 before the first class, so we can order the appropriate exam. Bring your failure notification and a photo ID to class. RENEWAL: Those who need to renew their license may attend the Food Service Refresher course, or attend the first day of the 15 hour class from 8 am-2:30 pm. Bring a photo ID and your current State of Illinois Food Service Certificate to class. IMPORTANT: If your Certificate has or will expire by the first class, you must retake the 15 hour class. Register Early! Purchase booklet at RVC Bookstore and bring it with you to class.


STATE of ILLINOIS CERTIFICATION

Food Service Sanitation Certification Course 
(1 Credit) Classroom problem solving will help translate principles to everyday use and encourage participants to share their knowledge with co- workers. Learn basic food service sanitation principles that will prepare you to take the Food Service Certification Exam given by the Illinois Department of Public Health (given in class). Purchase text at RVC Bookstore and bring with you to first class.

NOTE: Upon successful completion of the exam, participants are eligible to apply for an Illinois Department of Public Health Food Service Sanitation Certificate for an additional $35 fee.

Food Service Refresher

Certified food service managers, this class will qualify you for renewal of your Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Food Service Sanitation Managers Certification. Emphasis will be placed on current topics in food service sanitation, including Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) concepts and foods and problems associated with recent food borne illness outbreaks. Important: Bring a photo ID and your current State of Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certificate to class. If your Certificate has or will expire by the date of the class, you must retake the 15 hour class. Register Early! NOTE: According to the State of Illinois Guidelines, mandatory attendance is required for five hours. You must arrive promptly by the start time. NATIONAL CERTIFICATION

(1 Credit) Participants are also eligible to apply for an Illinois Department of Public Health Food Service Sanitation Certificate. The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) provides a heightened awareness of prevention with the latest scientific best practices and proven instructional techniques. Students will better comprehend food safety knowledge, prepare for the certification exam (given in class) and apply it on the job to help protect the general public. This course is taught in English; however the text and test are available in Spanish upon special request.REQUIRED FOR ENTRY: To be successful in this certification class, you must purchase text at RVC Bookstore and bring it with you to the first class. No Exceptions! NOTE: According to the National and State of Illinois Guidelines, mandatory attendance is required for 15 hours. You must arrive promptly by the start time. IL B.A.S.S.E.T Certification Course Certification Course - Alcohol Awareness

The State of Illinois requires that all present and future employees of the food service industry who wish to serve liquor complete this training. This four hour Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) approved ILCC B.A.S.S.E.T. Certification Course is ideal for managers, owners, sellers, servers, and bartenders who sell, serve, and handle alcoholic beverages within the scope of their employment. This course covers: Physical Properties of Alcohol, Drugs, and Alcoholism, Prevention and Intervention Techniques, Illinois State Statutes, Local Ordinances, Illinois DUI Laws, Proper Identification Techniques, Police Policies and Expectations, Dram Shop Liabilities, Insurance and Victim's Rights.   Mandatory: Student MUST attend the full four (4) hours of classroom instruction, complete pretest assessment and successfully pass the ILCC B.A.S.S.E.T post-test. Course training/Resource Materials from the ILCC B.A.S.S.E.T. will be provided in class. After successful completion of this class students will receive: Certificates of Completion issued by both RVC and ILCC, and a Temporary ILCC B.A.S.S.E.T. card—valid for 30 days (the official ILCC B.A.S.S.E.T. card will be issued directly by the ILCC). Note: This is a lecture class and all course curriculums (handouts, visuals, written test, etc.) are in English. Students must provide a valid State Driver's License or State/Federal ID card to the instructor at the start of class.
