Central Contractor Registration (CCR) **(ending July 31, 2012)**
The purpose of a Central Contractor Registration (CCR) is to have commercial companies registered as a "trading partner" with the Department of Defense. CCR is the database of all government trading partners. All contractors are required to register in the CCR database before they can be awarded a contract. Your business will receive direct payments to company bank accounts through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
Register in CCR online. Note: You do not need pay to register in CCR. For helpful information, download the CCR user's guide.
Contractors are required each year to renew their company profile to ensure their listing is current, accurate and complete. If you do not renew your registration, it will expire. An expired registration will affect your ability to receive contract awards or payments, submit assistance award applications via Grants.gov, or receive certain payments from some federal government agencies.
**NOTICE – A New Government System is Replacing CCR**
System for Award Management (SAM)
SAM will reduce the burden on those seeking to do business with the government. Vendors will be able to log into one system to manage their entity information in one record, with one expiration date, through one streamlined business process.
**SAM go-live date has been moved to end of July 2012 (stay tuned for more updatesor call the PTAC office for more information)**

Marketing Partner ID Number (MPIN)
A Marketing Partner ID Number (MPIN) is a personal code that allows you to access other government applications such as the Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS) and the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA). The MPIN acts as your password in these other systems, and you should guard it as such. The MPIN is a mandatory data element created by the CCR registrant.
Government and Commercial Entity Code (CAGE)
The Government and Commercial Entity, or CAGE code, is a five digit alphanumeric code that the Department of Defense uses to identify DoD contractors. The CAGE request process has been incorporated in the CCR registration. Upon activation in CCR or new SAM, your company will be assigned a CAGE code.
Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS)
The Dynamic Small Business Search is a database that contracting officers use to locate profiles of potential contractors. If you were designated as a small business during your CCR registration, you will be allowed to register in the DSBS database.
