Our Counseling Center staff can help you clarify your educational goals and help you deal with personal issues as well. We will sit down with you to map out academic plans, help with transfer to four-year schools, help you select appropriate courses for college majors, and can furnish catalogs for four-year colleges throughout the U.S.

Career Counseling

Here are just some of the career counseling resources we use:

• Vocational and personality inventories -Designed to help clarify and identify your strengths, abilities, and interests.

• Occupational information -Employment outlook, salaries, educational requirements, and nature of work summaries.

• Choices -A computer program offering advanced career guidance by matching your preferences and goals to related careers.

• STU 101 Career Planning (2 credits) -This course helps students acquire skills for improving career/life planning. Credits apply toward graduation and transfer to most four-year colleges.

Career Planning is designed to help students improve their life/career planning.

Participants will acquire skills for discovering who they are, what they want, and how they can reach their goals.  At the conclusion of the program, participants should be able to take more control over their lives.

Credit earned is elective credit and will apply to graduation and transfer.

Personal Counseling

Are your issues more personal in nature? We can help you with those too.

• Explore new techniques for dealing with situations in life.

• Learn how to deal with feelings of anxiety, inadequacy, and loneliness.

• Enhance self-image and self-esteem.

• Sharpen problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• We provide crisis counseling and referrals to community and private mental health agencies.
